PRESERVATION THURSDAY: LEGENDS NEVER DIE: DEADWOOD – THE MOVIE, THE PODCAST, THE LEGACY
DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission will host a presentation by Chris Wimmer at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), 150 Sherman Street, Deadwood. The event is wheelchair accessible. Please feel free to bring your lunch.
HBO’s fan-favorite TV show, Deadwood, returns this spring to the small screen for one final experience with the characters who populated the famous mining town. Chris Wimmer presents a program on the long-awaited conclusion of the iconic TV show, and compares and contrasts it with the true events of Deadwood history as they were told on his podcast.
Chris Wimmer is the co-owner of Black Barrel Media and the creator of “Legends of the Old West” and “Infamous America” podcasts. He has a degree in film from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. He worked in film, television, and journalism for 18 years before founding Black Barrel Media to produce audio and video content.
Wimmer’s show, “Legends of the Old West,” uses thorough research, cinematic storytelling, and engaging sound design to deliver true tales of the American West to audiences across the globe. With listeners in all 50 states and nearly 80 countries, it is the most popular show of its kind in the podcast medium.
