HISTORY ON THE LAWN AT THE HISTORIC ADAMS HOUSE: BRINGING HISTORY TO LIFE THROUGH FICTION

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission will host a presentation by award winning author Ann Charles at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Historic Adams House. The event is wheelchair accessible. Please feel free to bring your lunch.

Have you ever wondered where authors find the information needed to write stories about historical setting, character careers, or true events from the past? How they seamlessly weave history into a single story or series? In this presentation, Ann Charles will discuss the challenges faced when bringing history to life through fiction and how important it is to be as accurate as possible.

Ann Charles is the USA Today Best-Selling author of the Deadwood Mystery Series. She writes multiple award-winning mystery series that are splashed with humor, spice, suspense, action-adventure, and whatever else sounds fun.

A long-time member of Sisters in Crime and Romance Writers of America, Charles has a B.A. in English with an emphasis on creative writing from the University of Washington. When she isn’t dabbling in fiction, she is arm wrestling with her two kids, spending time with her husband, and arguing with her sassy cats. Most days, you can find her hanging out on Facebook as Ann Charles or on Twitter as AnnWCharles. Her website is www.AnnCharles.com.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, Deadwood History, Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau, Jerry Greer’s Engineering, and Celebrity Hotel & Casino.
