Fifteenth Annual Calamity’s Shindig: Deadwood History’s Fundraiser

DEADWOOD – The fifteenth annual Calamity’s Shindig will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at a new location, the Days of ’76 Museum.  Calamity’s Shindig will include musical entertainment by Kenny Putnam, Boyd Bristow, Mike Connor, and Guy Gullickson, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and silent and live auctions.  Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased online at DeadwoodHistory.com or by calling 605-722-4800.  Reservations required.  The Days of ‘76 Museum is located at 18 Seventy-Six Drive, Deadwood.

Kick up your heels and enjoy an unforgettable evening of entertainment! Musicians Kenny Putnam, Boyd Bristow, Mike Connor, and Guy Gullickson will set the stage with a dynamic mix of fiddle tunes, jazz, soul, rock ’n’ roll, and original songs. Guests will indulge in mouthwatering hors d’oeuvres catered by Cheyenne Crossing, a cash bar, and participate in silent and live auctions.  Adding to the fun, Jena Sierks will bring the adventurous spirit of Calamity Jane to life, joined by Deadwood Alive’s Andy Mosher as Marshal Con Stapleton. The live auction, hosted by Terry Hupp, will feature impressive items, including a Heritage 92 Classic lever-action gun, a private catered dinner at the Historic Adams House, Forks, Corks & Kegs package, framed historic photographs and artwork, Saloon No. 10 baskets, and more.

Calamity Jane’s rough and rowdy, independent, and free-spirited lifestyle made her a legend.  She was known to dress and walk like a man – and drink and curse like one too.  This behavior often overshadowed her softer side.  She was also a mother, frequently tended to the sick, and was generous and giving with what little she had.  Calamity Jane is certainly an anomaly in the history of the West, and Deadwood History has an unbelievably good time celebrating her life.

Co-sponsored by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, Deadwood History, Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau, Deadwood Mountain Grand, The Lodge at Deadwood, KEVN Black Hills FOX, Riverfront Broadcasting, Deadwood Alive’s Andy Mosher, Jena Sierks, Terry Hupp, Black Hills Pioneer, Homestake Opera House, Saloon No. 10, and The Lodge at Deadwood.
