Chinese New Year Youth Party
DEADWOOD – Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year Party will be held at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The workshop is suggested for students in grades K-6. The program is free but reservations are required. Call Education Director Tera Richards at 605-578-1657 for reservations or more information.
Children are invited to explore the rich traditions of Chinese New Year, discovering its significance in Chinese culture and its connection to Deadwood’s history. Students will learn about the Year of the Snake and its meaning for 2025, while uncovering the customs that make this holiday so special. The workshop includes hands-on fun with a Chinese craft to take home, a delicious Chinese-style lunch, and the cherished red envelope ceremony.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission, Deadwood History, Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, Edith Wong, Akrop Family Education Scholarship, Black Hills Pioneer, and Monument Lead-Deadwood Hospital.
