Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year Youth Party

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year Party will be held at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The workshop is suggested for students in grades K-6. The program is free but reservations are required. Call Tia Stenson-Cunningham, Deadwood History Archivist, at 605-722-4800 for reservations or more information.

Children are invited to discover how Chinese New Year is celebrated and why this holiday is important in Chinese culture and to Deadwood history. They will learn what the Year of the Rabbit means for 2023 and the traditions that make Chinese New Year so unique. Students will play games and create a Chinese themed rabbit lantern to take home. The workshop will also include a Chinese style lunch and a red envelope ceremony.  Happy chinese new year 2023 year of the rabbit zodiac with on color Background. (Translation : Happy new year)
