BOOK SIGNING AT THE ADAMS MUSEUM WITH BILL HAAS

DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. will host a book signing with researcher, writer, and speaker Bill Haas, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Adams Museum, 54 Sherman Street, Deadwood.

In The Marshals and Mayors of Deadwood & Sheriffs of Lawrence County Since 1876, published in 2023 by the Lawrence County Historical Society, Bill Haas offers information about who served as mayors and as heads of law enforcement in Lawrence County since 1876. Many of these officials influenced the development of Deadwood and Lawrence County. Haas’ goal with his book to is clear up messy and or flawed facts and offer information that is accurate. This is Haas’ first book.

Haas’ family has a long history in the Black Hills – the first members arriving in Deadwood Gulch in the summer of 1876. They have been supporters of the Deadwood museums since 1930 when the Adams Museum opened to the public. Haas and his two sisters, Cindy Griffeth and Sharon Smith, funded an educational endowment in their parents name to support Deadwood History, Inc. and its educational programs.

Bill Haas is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He is a registered research member of the South Dakota Genealogical Society. He also holds memberships in the New England Historical and Genealogical Society and the Lawrence County Historical Society.
