DEADWOOD – Deadwood History, Inc. (DHI) is offering behind the scenes tours of the artifact storage area at the Days of ’76 Museum. Tours will be offered at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5 and Thursday, September 7, 2017. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please call Casey Seger at 605-578-1657 to make a reservation.
For the past three years DHI staff has been working diligently to make improvements to the care and management of its extensive historical collections. With grant funding from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), DHI undertook an ambitious and essential project to protect and preserve the history of Deadwood and the Black Hills.
During the tour participants will find out why this project was so important, get a glimpse at never-before seen artifacts, and learn about what museum professionals do to protect our valuable heritage.
